For 2020, the Lotus Elise gets a real edition. The Elise Classic Heritage Edition can be a version that will be had in one of four liveries that make reference to past Lotus race cars. While the paint schemes are appropriate tributes, the redundancy of getting "Classic" and "Heritage" in the same name seems to run counter to Colin Chapman's philosophy of "simplifying and adding lightness. Name aside, the color schemes look good. Naturally, one of them is that the famous black and gold of the famous Player Special Lotus racing cars toiletries. Others are less familiar, but still significant. Two of them highlight cars driven by famous racers. The blue, red and silver combo refers to the 1980 Lotus Type 81 driven by Mario Andretti, Nigel Mansell and Elio de Angelis. The red, white and gold version is for the 1968 Type 49B driven by Graham Hill. As for the blue and white car, it celebrates the primary Lotus F1 car to win the position and therefore the race, the 1960 Type 18. The flashy paintwork is matched with equally flashy interiors. The top door panels and other trim pieces are painted in co-ordinated colours, so the seat centres are finished in the matching fabric. The only exception is the blue and white model which gets red seats. While the car is based on the Elise 220 with 217 horsepower, it gets features that are normally extra-cost there car, including air conditioning, controls, a radio, carpets and floor mats, two-piece brake rotors and forged wheels. Available options are a hardtop, lithium-ion battery and titanium exhaust. All of these extra features, along with the colors and exclusivity help make the extra charge worth 6,350 pounds, making the car cost 46,250 euros, or just over $57,000 at current exchange rates. Speaking of exclusivity, only 100 of these cars will be sold internationally. Lotus notes that the division between the different colours will be hung on demand, so some liveries may be rarer than others. Don't expect any of them to be offered in the US, however, since the Elise is not available here at all .
